Rajiva Wijesinha was a Member of Parliament, Sri Lanka Presidential Adviser on Reconciliation, and Leader of the Liberal Party of Sri Lanka. He previously served as the Secretary General of the Secretariat for Coordinating the Peace Process in Sri Lanka (SCOPP), and also as Secretary for the Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights.
He was also a leading liberal theoretician in South Asia and conducted workshops on liberalism in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan, and Indonesia. His publications include Liberal Values for South Asia, Declining Sri Lanka, and Political Principles and Their Practice in Sri Lanka. He also released a collection of speeches entitled, “Asian Liberal Perspectives: Promoting Democracy, Equity, and Pluralism.”
Rajiva studied at Oxford University, England, where he completed his Bachelor and Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
Rajiva served as CALD Chair from 2000-2001.
